Karen, what a great post. And it's comforting validation of what I instinctively know to be true. I torture myself too much for failing to pick up around the house everyday and finish all the laundry. Forget it! That stuff will take care of itself, but my little one can't...yet. So here's to roller skating inside the house and skipping stones by the creek.

it's neat that you love your mom. and the thing is ... it's important to live your own life, even if your mom might have some feelings to deal with when you do.

it's not your job to keep your mom happy -- that's her job. your job is to keep YOU happy. and if that means getting married (or not) and living somewhere else, then your mom will face the music and turn to her adult friends

i understand this post very well though im not a parent, but my mother i think she loves me to be in our house rather live away from her . i play music so loud and dont wash my clothes but i as her son is the best thing that keeps her happy . thats why i stay here . i know how boring life can be for her if i get married and live somewhere else i wont do that to my mother too.
